Kia Ora, My name is Shekynah Clarke,
I am a full time missionary with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) Kona based in Hawaii. I am of Samoan and Tongan decent but was born and raised in Aotearoa/New Zealand. In Kona I am currently staffing one of their discipleship training schools called Fire & Fragrance. I have been a part of this school for the past 3 years and have been deeply enriched by its devotion to intercession and worship to Jesus.
What I love about this school is that their DNA centers around revivalist culture and reaching the unreached nations. My heart is to see revivalists begin to rise up from among Pacific Islanders. That we would begin to believe in who God has called us to be as Warriors and that we would take that into a broken world that needs Jesus. My desire is to see Pacific Islanders take their place within the Great Commission (Matthew 28).
Doing my DTS in Kona, Hawaii back in 2019 and only seeing 3 other Pacific Islanders in my school of 350 students was indeed an unique experience. My whole life I had only been around other Pasifika (NZ raised islanders). Yet it also gave me understanding that as an islander I carry something different from others. That as much as young Americans had an important part in the great commission, I did too. It requires everyone; The nations unto the nations.
I thrived on my outreach to South-East Asia. The values, the way they honored and served people was the same as mine. I saw what Jesus loved about the Nations. This understanding carried me through leading teams well to both Central America and more recently the Middle East. It was the Kingdom aspect of our collective cultures that was truly beautiful. I believe that this next generation is made for the hardest and darkest places. So now as a staff I get to teach this understanding to those that come through Fire & Fragrance. I will be a part of staffing this upcoming F&F Leadership Track starting September which will see our next staff being trained up for the 2023 January DTS.
To continue all that I believe the Lord is calling me to do, would you consider supporting me financially to see not just pacific islanders but all people adhere to their place and call to the Great Commission?
Mahalo Nui Loa/Fa'afetai Tele lava/Thank You,
