Friends of the Swampscott Rail Trail

The primary objective of the Friends of the Swampscott Rail Trail fund is to support the design, construction, and maintenance of the Swampscott Rail Trail. All donations are used to support this goal.

Our current campaign is to raise $250,000 from residents, local businesses, and corporate partners for design work and to leverage additional public and private funding for construction of the remainder of the trail.

Friends of the Swampscott Rail Trail is an all-volunteer community organization. We work in partnership with the Town of Swampscott to create the Swampscott Rail Trail. You can visit our website at swampscottrailtrail.org for photos, maps, and information on the first two segments of the trail that were constructed in 2020. The Friends of the Swampscott Rail Trail fund is a charitable fund managed by the Essex County Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
